This
concept had been in my head for some 3 maybe 4 years and it was
Griff who moaned that all the bikes I built were painted not powdercoated. This prompted me to suggest that we put his original,
spare set of springers to good use and form a board race style bike , with modern power, around them. Obviously in a patriotic
red, white and blue.
First
ride was 260 mile round trip into Wales, how uncomfortable?!! It achieved
everything without problem, drawing huge interest from everyone. The weekend was crowned by taking best engineering
and best of show prizes at the NCC Eurorun. A fitting thank you to everyone involved in it's construction.

The
donor bike was a 2004 KTM LC4 640 Enduro. Chosen because it was available,
a challenge, and to date nobody had done one before. |

KTM
640 cc, water cooled, making some 55 BHP in standard form. More than
enough for the proposed cycle parts! |

As
supplied by Griff and the real start of the idea. "Why not
build a bike that is entirely powdercoated and finished in-house?"
As can be seen the frame was raked and goosenecked to take the vintage
front end, with a new top tube and steering neck. |

1930's
era board tracker, with a flat tank. Slightly wider due to the accommodation
of the radiators. Fully one off fabrication in mild steel, powdercoated
so
no filler could be used, i.e. it had to be straight! Mercedes diesel
van filler cap, reclaimed from a scrapper, one-off drop handlebars,
and seat unit in stainless. |
